Buy me a house on the mainline

morning kisses
on the work line
saddest kisses
watch lovers go
to waste and soften
8 more hours closer to death
sunken eyes
hollow faces

remember when they
walked in fields together
looking up and pointing
at clouds?

they don't look up anymore
just down
at feet and
crumbling sidewalks
white lines
for crossing streets
blinking men
made of white lights
and orange hands

dance to the music of
roving cars
trapped in city frame,
8x5 times 50 years
dragging nothing
but memories
of white walls and
should-have-beens
and longing
to the grave.

Failure

I had this poem
ready to go

thought it up
in the bathroom,

it had one great line

I forgot it
before I got here

and all I was left with,
was this,

a confession.

It'll have to do.

Standing

Three days ago
                          there were whispers

many boulders
                           fall through time

often you'll catch them
                                      as feathers

in the corners
                        of your eye.

two days ago
                       you disappeared

along with the rest
                               of the human race

sucked through galactic straws
at the very edge of time.

Yesterday I stood alone
                                       reaching into the void

all that's left now
                           stardust and empty seashells

echos of voices
                          faint sense of seeing eyes.

today I am nothing
                               but thick dark sky

fading comets
                       dying embers of universe

the final learned things
                                     shattered stone.

Commercial broadcast

The data spikes
government sponsored
absurdity junk rules
into the spatial filter--
we have all been arranged
from birth to act this
certain way-- it has been
waiting for you, do trust
the accepted image
science gatefold image--
no study would lie
for money and control
history has taught us this
all structures are trust worthy
when built as grand grinding
machines--humans are
liars, cheats, truth is a foundation
stone of power and currency
and guns--be my drone baby
bask in loving arms
The data spikes.

Jump!

Momma I'm lapping the
birds on the way down
watching the ledges and
counting the dark curtains
on the cellophane walls,
I'm tired of walking on the
streets robots, and me
being one of them, building
more robots for future
generations of surrendering,
we can be martyrs for the truth
I could swear it casting off
these shackles that you can't
see so why not believe they
don't exist? Because because
it's harder to trust the creeping
black acne of the skull-mind-
intuition--
we could see what I/we see
it would be blasting off sparkling
endless dreams, it would be truth
of the eternal stars, it would be
motionless eyes forever
grinning
baby
grinning

Pledge

I hear your heartbeat
America,
in the rain and footsteps
crunching through the sad night
where I rest my head upon your
steely breast
unembarrassed
unashamedly
born to write for you,
to die unknowing, unknown, poor,
broken, foolish,
to leave as a true testament
my very heart and soul
America

Click Enter

It is duly noted--

in
my shriveled
book
of truth

Buried deep within
the hard ground
swells
the teeming
masses and
eyes--
shhhhhhhhy
away

it's
wet
and
won't burn
when
revealed.

I wouldn't bother with it.

the radio plays
whatever
for the boiling heat outside

while I can't even
glimpse the sun.

I see

the monsters when I remove my glasses,
dark, sunken eyes brooding from ugly
gaunt-yellow visage,
blurred and hidden in perfect sight,
I see the sins bared empty on your souls,
the demons struggling to be free,
your true faces turned away reveal
a scowling bitter mosaic,
I see the sun a phantom fireball at dusk
burning, burning, into infinity, burning
all eventually, burning even truth--

I wipe my glasses of the scum
and put them back on so I
can keep smiling.
