Holly Ho 2

time the lights
are hollow husks,
torn from cable
wrapped up tight
safely melted down,
colored as bright
as the sky
on empty winter nights.

Holly Ho 1

time the lights
are broken down,
locked in caskets
metal-lined,
stowed away
beneath the deck
in dank galleys
on haunting ships.

12:03 am

hey, it's old
news
by now;
move on.

12 am

auto-tune
countdown
one second behind
the rest--
where were the visions,
then?
--happy new years;
i guess

12:02 am

over
the other side
what remains
already done
another trip
around another
sun

12:01 am

on the
balcony alone
no shouts
cork flight out &
down for the sidewalk
bound
champagne cold
on my hands
the wind

500,000 minutes

slept in a car outside Eau Claire

never broke that mountain

faced the shores of Ross Lake
either

but we did break Canada

2,973 miles

or maybe it broke us

I still got the black fly
scars from Algonquin Provincial Park

I've reconciled with that

they're never going

woke up yesterday in America

East coast gray sky

snow

no longer where I was
or where I was going
having traveled 8,000
miles here to there
and now back

looking out on flurries
dreary virginia winter scenes

listening to the tires
roll 3,500 miles away.

My New Year's Desolations

I imagine you'll be much taller
than the 6 miles ahead of me,

what have you been staring at
facing the canadian border
all these million years,
do you even realize there's a silly
line there now, that it's draw on
paper maps by men?

What is Hozomeen trying to say?
Is there anyone listening?

Joe said he's going to conquer you.
Can any man conquer a mountain?
Or does the mountain yield its secrets
to those worthy enough to seek its embrace?

I don't know about any of that, I guess maybe we'll
find out, or we'll try at least,

I imagine we'll try.

Bloody

They say it dilutes in water
red specks of immortality
gone awry gone down gone
under piping gone mad mind
blurred in alcohol fireworks
and where's the tub that you
can barely see or the toilet
beside you--the drain--I can read the phantom
strands boiling to the surface
I can understand I can't understand
the bass meandering pounding plodding,

orIcouldSay--

Remembering how it's like to faint--
or how heaven vibrates
at the frequency of angelic language
like harps on forever clouds--
but it's all where it is and where
it ain't and where what fuck where--

I hope I wake to see tomorrow.

New

New years past, and here's one
for the archive-storage-kbs-mbs
2012, it's already gone
I guess that's fitting the theme
since lately I've dreamt of the end
of the world, which is kinda like
hot pot in that everything is
thrown into the same reddish soup to cook
called entropy, homogeneity, whatever, bubbling.
My new years eve dinner
just that and some beer to wash it down,
with the fireworks unheard outside going up for
hope, realization, numbers, obligation to
the end
I'll hold your hand until
the end
even so
The tigers will pick our bones clean in
the end

I've had enough

Happy New Years Arkansas

5,000 black birds flying
red wings falling in the streets
cop cars swerving town sanitation trucks weave,
the mayor tugs at his underwear
at the phone at the window anyway
waking early on this apocalyptic morn,
January first the clouds are storms
or sky puppets overcast. ask John.

Mini-Mini

Light forecast New Years day
Early rain, wino dream
pink lace waiting star
still in baked Earth sky,
my fuchsia iris dove,
we dance moon showers
blink.
